 How can you help?

How can you help?

It is a joy and a privilege to be able to worship in a church which has been used by Christians for over 800 years, a church which was probably predated by a wooden building for several centuries before.

Unfortunately, buildings of a certain age do need specialist care and maintenance and money is always required to preserve our church (as well as paying our diocesan quota, of course)

The best way of helping to maintain the church and the Church would be to become a regular worshipper and give generously of the gifts that you have received, but there are other ways in which you can help;

The parish events committee organises a number of social and fund-raising events throughout the year - garden suppers, a Christmas Fayre, and so on.  Further details are available from Kathy Collins (Tel: 01796 428145) (e-mail events@sspeterandpaulatborden.co.uk)

The Friends of Borden Church is a group whose fund-raising efforts are directed specifically towards maintaining the fabric of our beautiful building.  They recently raised the money needed to restore the "Christ the Light of the World" window, and have already raised several thousand pounds towards the repainting of the interior walls.

They organise events like Barn Dances, Strawberry Teas, Wine & Wisdom Evenings, History Evenings.  Further details are available from The Secretary, Shirley Henderson (Tel 01795 425855, e-mail, friends@sspeterandpaulatborden.co.uk)

The parish has recently become affiliated to an organisation called Buy.at which acts as an agent to enable supporters to buy goods on-line from major companies and gives a percentage of the profits to us.  It is now possible to just log on to http://buy.at/SaintsPeterandPaul and spend, spend, spend, with a clear conscience in the knowledge that you are helping the church.  The companies available include CD Wow, Cotton Traders, English Country Cottages, John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, MFI, Oddbins, Virgin Wines, and a wide range of utility, telecommunication and insurance companies.
